ETC StoryTree™ starts with a statement, story, position, opinion or comment. Continue the idea, branch off, add facts, refute facts, pave a rich path that can be traveled again and again. See where ideas originated, how they changed, who changed them, where they transformed. Every idea has an antecedent. Every idea can be attributed. You can travel the path of panic in real time in a storm. You can travel the emotional ups and downs in an election. You can unravel the source of a rumor. ETC StoryTree never hides its beginnings.
The most fluid of stories can be observed as a visual map. The workings of the imagination can be seen in patterns. The exact moment a narrative becomes a rumor can be calculated. Capturing an ongoing story which can be rolled out later as a chronological mind map is an invaluable tool for reflection, examination, and powerful collaboration.
With ETC StoryTree the end of the story is only the beginning...
To post entries login through facebook. Click on any story note (we call them "leaflets"). If you think the post is cool, press the "Like" button on the lower left corner and your vote will be tabulated.
When you select any leaflets in the tree, the contents of that post and all the prior ones in the storyline leading up to it, are displayed on the storyline panel of the left side of the screen. Also notice that the storyline is highlighted on the tree.
At any time you can add a new post. This creates a new leaf in the current storyline or branches off to form a new one. Give it a try. You will have fun. :)
We did most of our testing with Chrome (but it should work with others like Firefox or Safari). If you are using a small size screen, press the <Ctrl><Minus> keys to reduce the font size, and then refresh the web page with <Ctrl><R>. On the Mac it's <Cmd> instead of the <Ctrl> key.
