I work for 10gen developing the node.js driver and evangelizing in the node community. When not writing javascript I indulge myself in C, Java and other languages.
I'm based out of Barcelona where I enjoy the great weather and food.
Thank you very much for your vote! We are working on finishing up the product and getting ready to launch it next week. We hope you and your wife will use it!
Ha ha, I laughed and also shuddered from the memories it brought back of waiting for ever for it to finish.
Fun combination of new webrtc media api's and some motion detection. Cool tech demo of what's possible. Tracking was tiny bit off but it's a hard problem to solve.
It's a cool concept. I did not have enough computers to check what happens as latency increases though. Does it get completely desynchronized after awhile ?
Thanks for the feedback!
I tested it with a few computers all connected to the same router, receiving messages from nodejitsu - they stayed pretty well in sync with each other. Occasionally one would get slightly off so that it sounded like a slight reverb, but overall I didn't notice any huge desyncs.
I did make an assumption off the NTP algorithm that the time between receiving the websocket request and responding to it is effectively 0. This might not be the case though if the server is under a bunch of load.
BTW - thanks for all the work you've done on mongodb-native. It's really well done and much more stable than some of the other db drivers I've used.
I would use this service as I use Evernote for this currently and this would just work much better for when on the move with a mobile. I could not make the xmpp chat part work properly with adium as it seems like the bot is down at the moment. Keep polishing it and it will be a very useful product.
Hey,
The bot is there, I'm xmpp chatting with him. Might be a limit on the number of contacts you can have on google apps (that we use for the xmpp server, the bots connect as a client).
We'll investigate thx
christkvcool I'll wait for your response. I think it has great potential.
I did approve a dozen new contacts manually. you should have URT 9000 ready to chat with you. ("easter egg" being the command to try ;)
Awesome idea and I would use it but I wonder if there is a way to make it works across browsers without exploiting firefox behavior. I've also had problems getting it to work on firefox 16.0.2 on mountain lion. Cool concept though.
Awesome game and really fun. Might want to consider some sort of AI for when there is not enough players and there seems to be some bugs in the path following algorithm for the players marker as it was jumping around a bit erratic at times. Allover a great entry.
Funny concept and a nice tongue in check commentary :). Nice use of websockets and the canvas.
This is an awesome game :) I'm assuming you are using websockets, have a look at webrtc when it comes out properly and use the udp support in it so you can scale it up better :). Really impressed with the creativity of the game and love the retro look.
It's a great little game, you might want to add some AI if there is no-one playing and maybe some more complex levels but you've got the start of a great little social game there :).
Thanks a lot! Yeah, the list of ideas is growing, and it really doesn't take too much to make this thing quite a bit better. A single player training mode is high on our list. Also a better ranking algorithm and real user profiles, which would be the foundation for levels. The software base easily allows a bigger tone range and longer patterns, so more skilled player should get what they need.
Awesome funny little application, great job. You should have her interact with your mouse too :)
When our team member and I seem this comment, we say 'this guy want to do some bad thing to servant. (lol)' at the same time. Good suggestion, we'll think about it. :D
Very nice little feature. My wife loved it :). You might want to just add a simple email option aswell at some point.
