I haven't tested in any Linux distribution. We deppend on HTML5's getUserMedia to get access to the webcam, maybe it doesn't work in Google chrome for Linux Mint (?). Not sure, sorry.
On the other hand, if you have problems loading the GIFs, try any other browser. Chrome has an unresolved bug with animated GIFs (http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=147223). Give it a try in firefox, it works much better. Also, give some tries to the random button.
Sorry for the inconveniences :/
No worries, the animated GIFs seemed to work, though. When my request for the camera was issued, Chrome interpreted it as a request to access my microphone. Don't know what that's about. I'll try in Firefox! Just wanted to let you know about what I noticed running Linux/Chrome. Going to give Linux/Firefox a try.
Tested in Linux Mint running Google Chrome, couldn't get the camera to work, and random GIFs wasn't showing up either.
