I make things with computers.
@jaredhanson, you read our minds! We especially like the idea of getting the "neighborhood" stuff from last.fm. Rdio already let's you connect up to last.fm so your play history gets scrobbled. Thank you for your review. As I've mentioned to everyone else, we're going to keep building this out - would love the feedback as we progress.
In theory, this could be quite useful. The implementation needs work though, as I struggled to actually change the content on initial template. A lot of UX considerations to account for. Very ambitious for a short competition. I encourage you to build this out further, since it has a lot of potential.
Really impressive! I love things that integrate multiple devices. I had some issues where using my iPhone (and Safari) as a controller wasn't responding quite naturally. With a bit more polish, this could be really great.
Useful service, and works as advertised! Nice out-of-the-box implementation for live streaming events. One issue: The Twitter OAuth callback failed with Internal Service Error. I know one other entry was having issues on Nodejitsu. (I'm the author of Passport, let me know if you find a fix or bug. Thanks!)
thanks Jared, indeed we use passport. I think our problem is due that we used redis to store express session (in order to use the three drones), and somehow.... our application cant connect to redis, I can tell that because i logged into redis and simple "keys *" show the db is empty.
It was working few days ago and indeed i have voted for some other apps having the same issue
btw! I love passport, I wrote this module to autheticate in socket.io
https://github.com/jfromaniello/passport.socketio
Not the typical NKO project, and a bit harder than the usual "npm install" to get up and running. I like everything P2P though, so this intrigues me. Would love to see this pursued further after NKO!
Like the idea, but I'm getting Internal Server Errors when after the Twitter OAuth callback. I'm the author of Passport (which I see your using). Let me know if you've found a bug! :)
Thanks, I can't figure out the issue, only seems to happen on nodejitsu server. When I test locally with the same production mongolab connection url, everything works fine. Even deleted all my sessions in the db.
Added a more relevant demo video now.
I'm at a loss for words. It is strangely addictive, for no apparent reason. I like it and am left asking why?!
Just give in and accept it. :D
Cool. Great use of all the latest HTML5 APIs. Might be nice to let users change the character set / font sizing on the resulting images.
I really like this! (But am sad about the socket.io loading issue that forced me to go with 1 star on completeness). If you could fix that, and make it dead simple to send a link+code to my phone, I would use this a lot. Nice work!
Yeah, that was a real blooper. But it happens. Thank you for your vote!
About making it dead simple: I also thought about a QR code which you can scan with you smartphone. URL and Code included.
Sign up page had password in plain text, and required me to login after signing up. Other than that, it was easy to understand and get going. Great use of Node's real-time capabilities.
Love it! Hook up other music services such as Spotify, Last.fm, etc, and this would rock!
