Contestant on I Made A Marshmallow.
Appreciated! 48 hours sounds like a long time until you're in the middle of it.
Pretty decent, though the gameplay could probably use some sort of idle detection. I'm never going to catch up to someone who was just idling on the pad for quite a while before I got there. Also could have used a feature to indicate which dinosaur was yours.
Nice entry, fairly complete in terms of collision detection of players/bullets, chat, scorekeeping & etc. The controls were quite difficult to get the hang of in terms of the way the sprites face and the way the gun aims. My own sound-effects were inadequate, but I tried :)
haha nice, maybe we should crowd source the sounds effects ;)
WASD is pretty comfortable for me since most on the PC have that configuration. But we have seen plenty of people struggle with it. Arrow keys was one of those "oh thats easy we can do that after we tackle _" items, and never made it in :P
Thanks for the stars!
It wasn't the WASD so much as the impedance mismatch with the direction the sprite was facing. E.g. I expected W to be "Forward" rather than "Up" and had a hard time convincing my brain otherwise.
Crowd-sound effects would be hilarious. After selecting your player name it could say "Click make a 0.5 second recording of what the bullets from YOUR gun sound like"
It was a kick! There were a few very minor glitches with the graphics and controls -- occasionally after an attack the vertical lines between cubes would vanish. Also every rare once in a while after an attack it wouldn't let me rotate a piece I already had in flight anymore. I want more and harsher attacks :)
This is rather impressive! I was quite surprised to see that I could create a file using touch, then edit it in vim, including being able to transmit the ESC key to vim to exit edit mode.
Thanks!
What do you think about the concept?
The concept is good, though the security implications are worth considering. You'd need a good assurance of high security for your users.
A direction I think you could take this that would be VERY exciting would be the ability to use it to multicast to a fleet of identical machines. You'd have to be considerate of synch issues, but the ability to edit a configuration file simultaneously across a multitude of machines would be awesome.
I think you misread.
Think of this as a replacement to gnome or kde on your computer.
Indeed I did, though I will admit the idea of a web gui like this as an interface to a PaaS like Nodejitsu, especially if it simultaneously operates on a fleet of clone nodes has me more excited than a HTML5 window manager.
I suppose my own wishful idealism prevented me from thinking clearly as I read your description.
You can do that. :) My code is open-sourced at https://github.com/w3de/nko
This is great, one of my favorites. Love the use of the bizarre GIF protocol to allow for streamed content.
Looks like a lot of fun, though I had issues with the game screen where I couldn't see any of the cars or where I was going, almost as if the background layer was on the top. Based on what I could hear and the the gameplay video there is definitely a lot of potential here.
Looks great, plays great. The concept is awesome. Would be great to see how it looks when it can be polished up a bit. E.g. jumping and getting stuck upside-down on the asteroid, or jumping off into deep space.
Thanks, bryce. We're excited to fix some of the alignment and jump impulse errors as well. It was quite a scramble to finish what we did. I'm glad it was enough for you to enjoy!
Documentation, even! Nice & very complete given the time constraints.
A great start, well done!
Remarkably complete given the short time-frame. Well done.
