I was only going to give it four stars for Fun but then someone hit the konami code. I really like this (and not just the raptor). This is a fun way to do crosswords, and the interface for making entries is far superior to other online ones that I've used. Bravo.
Worked pretty well. Had a little trouble with Twitter OAuth but going back to the root URL cleared it up. Did not receive notification that friend was attending. Not sure this is an improved experience over just sending a -d tweet from the Twitter client (but I'm old and stuck in my ways, so what do I know).
We decided to reduce auth and register input from the user side at a small level. So we need you to auth with twitter to load your followers and send them a direct message. Your friends don't need to authenticate. So it's easy for them to call the meeting of or just join. - You can go back to the invitation site whenever you want to see a status change!
But we can't send you a notification when something happends because we not know how to contact you :)
Couldn't get it to work. No errors, just nothing happened. Also would expect something like this to weigh in at less than 5k whereas this is over 65k.
I was using my own email address for sending emails instead of sendgrid or postmark because of haven't enough time to account in the app.
About the size it's a good point. I think I can compress library up to 30 kb.but for now it's impossible I am using github.com/component/ with zepto, dialog, overlay dependencies. I hope in the next time I will do much smaller app. Thanks!
Presumably the aggregation from multiple sources and the highlights are the added value. I couldn't link any additional accounts and the selection of highlights seemed off. Maybe I just don't have enough interactions to train your algorithm? Anyway, the net result was that this seemed like an ad free Facebook reader... which I suppose is a pretty good thing.
Thanks for your vote.
Currently it only supports facebook, "highlights" section being off is possible since the algorithm only looks into comments and likes, the "other posts" section is a typical facebook reader from your stream.
I haven't given a chat app more than two stars for Innovation before this. You really put a nice "spin" on it.
Thanks so much!!
I like this approach. Everyone has a to-do list, but not everyone has a done-did list :-) At my company we try and share wins and accomplishments every Monday morning and this would be a great tool to help aggregate those.
Thanks for voting us.
Let us know if you need this product desperately.
Not having worked with the web audio API it was not an issue I ever thought about. I decided to check out the W3 API spec to try and get a better understanding of what you are doing and holy smokes, I had no idea how rich this API is! I can really see why a reference like this would be handy.
This is pretty cool. It seems like it could serve a lot of purposes. Part mind map, part flow chart. I'm really impressed that this was done in 48 hours. Are new leaflets pushed to all active users?
Thanks for the compliments. Yep, socket.io pushes out the new leaflets to all active users, and backbone rerenders the appropriate version of the tree.
It was a grueling 48 hours. The four of us camped out at the NYU-Poly Incubator from Friday straight through Sunday evening. I think i must have no more than 6 or 8 hours sleep the whole weekend. The same is basically true of my teammates.
Yours looks like a cool application. Nice going for coding solo.
Seems to work well. I had to give it a low innovation because I've seen lots of similar projects. Also not clear why this couldn't just be done client side. I do like maps and pictures though :-)
Seems to be complete and functioning, but I've seen a bunch of these kinds of things so I can't give it high marks for innovation.
Twitter authorization was not working (500 Error: Step rememberTokenSecret of
Please try /logout It'll do the trick. We assumed twitter will always behave good but it turns out they don't! Apologies.
This is a fun idea, but it just didn't work for me. Tried sending some matching Tweets but no joy. I see my socket is open and frames are being received, but there is no data.
Neat. Not sure I'd call it a productivity tool, but fun and well done. Worked perfectly for me and definitely not something I've seen before. Well done.
I updated the text to read "productivity tool" :)
Works really well. Only downside is I've seen this before. Also not sure where Node comes into play. Couldn't this all be done with a client side mashup?
I'd love to know where you've seen this before, it's not something I've come across (though I wouldn't be surprised).
As to doing it as a client side mashup, that could be said about a lot of the apps in Node Knockout. Of course doing the feeds server side puts far less load on the feed providers, and allows for a certain amount of normalization of the feeds.
The splash screen is beautiful... unfortunately that's all I could see. Clicking the Facebook login button threw a JS error (FB not defined).
What a neat idea! I seem to be unable to reach some of my opponents but this is still very cool. A great twist on artillery games. I had some rendering quirks (tracers on artillery that went outside the asteroid area) but overall very well done.
Glad you liked it, dtex! We noticed the issue with trailing graphics toward the end of the weekend, but decided it wasn't a game-breaker. Thanks for voting!
I was able to drill down one level in the file viewer but then I was stuck. The command line didn't seem to work at all.
What happens when you type into the command line? And what browser are you using?
Seems to work really well. Would liked to have had more players in my game but I liked it a lot. I like the pace.
Mucho gusto! I remember seeing something similar many years ago but this is better. Very well done. It seems to work exactly as advertised. Are you going to open source it?
Really well done. Nice design and seems to be a truly complete entry. Amazing work given the deadline.
What a cool idea! I love to cook and code so this is a nifty convergence. Of course people fork recipes... everyone does (too much onion for me so I cut it in half, etc). Applying the github metaphor is perfect. Would love to see this in the wild. Everything worked. Didn't get 5 on completeness because some obvious features were missing (I know, I know... 48 hours). I hope more people vote on this. It deserves more attention.
On my redirect to http://githubchat.us/auth/undefined never was able to get anything but an error. Couldn't see it in action. Do you have to refresh to update the gif or does it keep the connection open and push new "frames"?
You have to start at http://githubchat.us for the auth to work, and I've heard of some people not being able to get it to work at all.
The gif does not require a reload to update, and it pushes new frames when someone says something in-channel.
Really wanted to see my github data, but that side didn't seem to work at all (never even prompted me to authorize your app). FB side showed a score but I think there was supposed to be more data shown. I like the effort on the design, too many people overlook that.
It looks fabulous! I am in awe that this was done in two days. Wondering how errors are found, as lots of the reported errors seemed, well, wrong. I definitely plan on playing around with this some more.
Thanks so much! The code was done in two days, but we learned from last year and did tons of planning upfront. We'd worked out how most of our components would interact, the gist of our data structures, the layouts of our pages, etc, and had a todo list as soon as the 'buzzer' sounded.
Way cool, I want this in my app! Would like to see a more complete implementation, but for 48 hours I'm really impressed!
I think I was limited by the quality of the GPS in my iPhone 4. Kept having to toggle back to maps to get my accuracy back. Had trouble with attacking. Maybe my thumbs were too big. I love this idea though! Little worried about sending my kid out in the street running around while looking down at the phone. Be nice if I could define a park or closed area as a zombie zone.
thanks for the feedback!! the gps issue is the same on my iphone4 i noticed in newer androids it works without having to toggle back to the maps app. We'll push a lot of updates as soon as nko is over. I'll se what we can do in order to define zombie zones, but the thought with that was just to always place them in streets, because that way its more certain that people will be able to reach them.
Thanks for your reply
For the life of me I couldn't get this to work. It seems like something I'd like to see. Class button would insert a sample class, but nothing else worked. Internal server errors on redirect from Twitter. Seeing lots of those actually. Maybe Nodejitsu is having problems.
I think this is a great idea, but unfortunately I couldn't get it to work for me. Kept getting an Internal Server Error
Dropbox just moved my app to production status, so I had to remove all tokens every couple of hours in order to keep it running. Please try again, it should work now.
Would like to have seen more in the video about the tech behind it. Hard to believe this was done in two days. That's quite an accomplishment!
We weren't sure what to put in there :)
Glad you liked it! We had a good time building it.
Pretty darn slick. Great job on the design work, it really lifts it up. We had a few double posts when checking it out but overall it worked very well.
It didn't load my FB photos and I wasn't there at the same time as anyone else so I think I missed out on the best part. Easy, intuitive interface. Good job!
Lot's of good info describing your project. I've seen a couple of projects now that need to describe 3rd party API's (including my own). I wonder if someone is making an effort to standardize API descriptions in JSON format. That would be pretty sweet, as we could all share API descriptions.
